SECRET SYDE - Hidden Secrets (Mutha MUTHA 007) USA 1983 LP

internet: Ah, the use of a y in place of an i, a certain indication of a predilection for all things psychedelic. This forgotten gem takes the garage psych/60's template, as many revival bands did in the 80's, and mixes it with a weird blend of west coast style surf/punk rock - which is curious, as the band hailed from New Jersey! This is perhaps an indication of the influence of bands they shared stages with, which included Black Flag and Dead Kennedys. The psych influence is what makes this record special and worth tracking down.
neo psychedelica/ garagerock lots of fuzzy guitars
Side 1 features typical neo-surf driven punk of it's vintage, but side 2 finds them letting the psych mat'l come out to play, and this is the album's forte.
